Here’s my quick two cents on the recent happenings in the English Premier League.
After many seasons of waiting “The Special one” has finally arrived at Stamford Bridge. Fernando Torres finally made the move to London to join Chelsea. He cost the club a massive 50 million pounds and will proudly wear the number 9 jersey;
if I were you I’d stop reading this right now and go place an order for this epic jersey. So it seems the management has finally realized the need to bring in some new blood and also went for the young Brazilian defender Luiz. As for Mr. Torres, he has signed a five and a half year deal that will see him take home every week a cool £175,000 a week! It is hoped that he deliver the goal-scoring punch that the club urgently needs. It still remains to be seen how Carlo Anceloti will play these forwards: Will he go for a 4-3-3 with Torres, Drogba and Anelka? or will he opt for the 4-3-2-1 formation?
Verdict: A good investment by Roman Abramovich to boost the weary legs of Drogba and Anelka. The million Pound question is whether FT will deliver or is he also Drogba’s successor at the Bridge?
After losing Torres to Chelsea, there is still light at the end of the tunnel for Liverpool. They have secured the services of Andy Carol for £ 35 million as well as the young talented Luis Suarez of Uruguay. It makes no point to keep an unhappy player, the decision to let him seems a wise one now that they have some extra money to spend on new players.
Verdict: Daglish has brought in two good players; let’s see how they will adjust at Liverpool. Currently placed 7th a top 5 finish would be a realistic goal.
That’s it for me. Your thoughts? comments?
